Volunteer Thoroughbreds Coach

  • Indoor Facility: Jersey Dugout, Morganville, NJ

At the New Jersey Thoroughbreds Baseball Program, powered by Galya Athletics, we're dedicated to developing young athletes both on and off the field. Since our start in August 2023, we’ve focused on skill development, personal growth, and community involvement. We pride ourselves on providing a transparent, more personalized service that not only helps athletes thrive and build lasting relationships but also guides them through their baseball journey with care and attention.

We’re Looking for:

Passionate Volunteer Coaches
If you love baseball and want to make a difference, we’d love to have you on our team! As a volunteer coach, you'll play a key role in helping our athletes grow. We’re looking for individuals who:

  • Are flexible with their time

  • Know the game well

  • Communicate effectively

  • Enjoy working with kids

  • Can hit fungos and throw batting practice (though if this isn't quite your strength, we can talk about it and find the right fit)

What You’ll Do:

  • Help plan and run baseball practices focused on skill development and growth.

  • Provide personalized coaching to help each player reach their goals.

  • Create a positive and encouraging atmosphere for the kids.

  • Communicate with athletes, parents, and fellow coaches.

  • Keep practices safe and organized.

  • Evaluate player progress and offer helpful feedback.

  • Support our community events and initiatives.

  • Be part of growing our program, with opportunities for involvement in future expansions.

Game Setting:

  • Head Coach: Acts as the third base coach.

  • First Base Coach: Manages the first base coaching responsibilities.

  • Bench Coach: Handles GameChanger and provides strategic support from the bench.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Passion for our program’s values and vision.

  • Experience with baseball, especially with youth players.

  • Good understanding of baseball fundamentals and strategies.

  • Ability to connect with and motivate young athletes.

  • Organizational skills and a team-oriented approach.

  • Ability to handle hitting fungos and throwing batting practice.

  • Willing to learn and implement our systems.

Certifications:

  • USA Baseball Coaching Certification (or willingness to get one).

  • CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to get one).

  • Completion of the Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Clinic (Sports Awareness for Educating Today's Youth™) Certification Information

Nice to Have:

  • Experience teaching or coaching youth sports.

  • Background in athletic training or sports performance.

  • Degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, or a related field.

  • Interest in business development and program expansion.
